In the first half of 2014, the Ministry of finance of Japan announced that goods seized by intellectual property rights infringed by customs in the first half of 2014 showed that in the first half (1~6 months), the Japanese customs seized 16296 pieces of intellectual property infringing goods, representing an increase of 15.8% compared with the same period last year, which exceeded 15348 in the first half of 2008.

Among them, the number of goods infringing intellectual property rights from China reached 15145, ranking the highest, accounting for 92.9%.

Data show that in the first half of 2014, Japan's seizure of infringing goods from China increased by 16.6% compared with the same period last year, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over that of Japan's seizure of infringing goods.

Apart from China, Japan seized 552 pieces of infringing goods from Hongkong, China, accounting for 3.4%, up 12.4% over the same period last year, and seized 217 pieces of infringing goods from South Korea, accounting for 1.3%, up 65.6% over the same period last year.

From the first half of the year, Japanese customs seized the category of infringing goods, and the number of wallets and bags was the top 5711, accounting for 31.7%, down 27.6% compared with the same period last year.

4732 commodities, accounting for 26.3%, grew by 123.5% compared to the same period last year, and seized 1841 pieces of footwear, accounting for 10.2%, an increase of 14.3% over the same period last year.

The total number of goods seized was 16180, ranking the highest, accounting for 97.3%, an increase of 15.7% over the same period last year, followed by copyright infringement of 382 commodities, accounting for 2.3%, a substantial increase of 163.4% over the same period last year.

According to the mode of pportation of the goods seized by the customs, 15465 of the goods were pported through postal service, accounting for 94.9%, ranking the first place, 16.8% year-on-year; 831 for general cargo, accounting for 5.1%, an increase of 1% over the same period last year.

Japan's Ministry of finance not only checks intellectual property infringement products in the country, but also sends customs officers to China to assist in the investigation.

In 2015 (April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016), the Ministry of finance of Japan will send 140 Japanese workers to China to assist in law enforcement, and the number of personnel will be greatly increased, so as to further intensify the investigation and handling of intellectual property infringing goods.
