In sweatshops in Eastern Europe and other places, the factories are not only poor in environment, full of chemicals, but also poorly paid, and seriously exploit the rights and interests of workers.

The world produces about 24 billion pairs of shoes a year, and more than 80% of them are made in Asia. If there are "made in Italy" and "made in Germany" labels, they will be sold at a much higher price than "made in China".

But behind these famous brand shoes, they hide a lot of sweat and sweat workers.

Several European Equity organizations jointly investigated the footwear industry in Europe, analyzed 28 famous brands and visited more than 100 factories in 12 factories, and found that footwear manufacturers generally pfer some processes that require the most manpower to neighboring Eastern European or Balkan countries to enjoy low wage costs.

The sweatshops in Europe are very poor in work environment and low in wages. For example, in Macedonia, the statutory minimum wage is 145 euros per month, but the survey found that there are

A shoe factory

The average monthly salary of workers is only 131 euros, which is far from enough to support a family.

Romania and Albania have similar sweatshops and shoe factories. The rights and interests organizations criticize that big brands use the loopholes of EU law to allow producers to pfer part of their processes to low cost places. After completion, they are shipped back to the country of origin without duty. Labels are made and sold by the country of origin, enjoying low cost and high price, but ignoring labour rights and human rights.

The wages of workers are calculated by piecework. In order to make more money, workers dare not refuse to work overtime.

Some workers recalled that if the boss received large orders, even if the workers had to die, they would have to rush to work. It would not be unusual for workers to go to hospital without fainting.

Factory environment is harsh, extremely cold in winter, extremely hot in summer, and full of toxic chemicals. Workers in order to complete work faster, often ignore safety measures, do not wear gloves directly contact with chemicals, as a result, many workers have skin diseases and respiratory diseases.
