Anti-Dumping

The 24-hour Sun reported on May 31 that the European Footwear Federation was held in Ascoli Picino, Marche, Italy. At the meeting, the European shoemaking industry asked the European Union to extend the anti-dumping measures against Chinese and Vietnamese leather shoes. The measure will expire on October 7 this year. The report pointed out that the imposition of anti-dumping duties played a role in controlling the import of leather shoes from China and Vietnam. Data from the first 10 months of 2007 showed that the total number of leather shoes imported by the EU from China and Vietnam fell by 17.6% and 9.7% respectively, with Italy falling by 15.3% and 12.6% respectively.
