After half a year's opening, the shoe museum has won 200 thousand outstanding visitors.

By 2004, due to the decrease of visitors, the shoe museum stopped selling tickets.

In 2007, the shoe museum stopped opening to the public.

Some of the citizens who are exercising on the flag Hill said that some of the supporting facilities such as cables in the museum were stolen. Now even lighting can only rely on self generating electricity.

It is reported that the current management unit of shoe museum is the Construction Office of China shoe capital industrialization project.

A person in charge of the office told reporters that the shoe museum had been unable to open to the public for several years, mainly because of the problem of handover.

The Construction Office of shoe industrialization project has no full-time management function.

The completed enterprises, municipal facilities and public construction facilities have been handed over to the local government and relevant functional departments successively.

In November 2006, the Lucheng district government held a coordination meeting to ensure that the shoe museum and its surrounding attachments were handed over to each other, and unified management with the cultural plaza of the shoe capital.
