The group alliance and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) called on the Obama administration to reopen the negotiations on the textile part of the us free trade agreement with South Korea.

The National Textile Organization Committee (NCTO) and other relevant groups pointed out that the US Korea talks, which ended in 2007, were a major mistake, which would severely hit the textile manufacturers in the United States and lead to large-scale layoffs.

The industry also said that the textile industry is also the main vehicle industry.

The industry has caused the loss of its employment.

Bill Jasper, vice chairman of NCTO, points out that if the United States does not approve of the current version of FTA, which is more conducive to the Korean textile industry, the industry will immediately suffer heavy losses and then lay off and collapse. On behalf of the industry, it calls on the Obama administration to correct these mistakes so as to ensure the employment market in the United States.

J vice chairman further pointed out three key mistakes in the textile part of the FTA provision:

1) large and competitive South Korean manufacturers have been given unequal duty free access to the US market for some sensitive textiles.

2) the law enforcement provisions of the customs are weak and there is a need to encourage large-scale counterfeit products.

3) the origin of many spins and garments is specified in China and some other countries.

By NCTO, the United States Manufacturing Trade Action Alliance (AMTAC), the American Fiber Manufacturers Association (AFMA), the National Textile Association (NTA), the American Industrial Fabrics Association (USIFI) and the Service Industry Employees International Union (SEIU) to the United States trade negotiations ambassador Ron Kirk joint letter pointed out that the Bush administration's textile negotiations provisions are not consistent with the high standard of trade agenda established by President Obama in twenty-first Century, so there is urgency to renegotiate negotiations.
